RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY Lead external website, intranet, apps and other digital media strategic efforts in collaboration with communications services for the district. Define technical requirements in collaboration with internal technical resources; support school website administrators; and determine and execute design and development of enhancements and re-design when needed. Support department publications via digital presence. Partner with the communications services team to develop and implement district strategy and initiatives for web and other digital communication efforts. Lead and coordinate community surveys and analytics to support the strategic direction and tactics related to the Jeffco strategic plan. Will have responsibility for design and implementation of standards for documentation; testing, data audit and integrity; and maintaining working relationships with business owners and end users.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Partner with the communications services team to best leverage digital (web and online media) efforts in support of the JeffCo Public Schools vision and key strategic priorities; identify, analyze and recommend actions that improve the delivery of information on digital platforms; and work collaboratively with all levels of management and staff throughout the organization.

Oversee reporting, design, and development strategies; interface with other business units to ensure consistency in solutions and methodologies. Assist in the development of analytics, assessments, and intelligence that support and guide the overall application of digital media efforts on behalf of the district.

Maintain Jeffco Public Schools website, update and re-design as necessary.

Support the design, development, and scripting of media presentations/productions for district-wide use.

Manage the implementation, tracking and progress reporting of digital planning activities.

Participate in community meetings and strategic working groups for the district. Collect and aggregate digital communications requirements on behalf of multiple constituent groups such as principals, students, parent/guardians, teachers/educators, administrative staff, board members, and others. Write and submit articles generated from field work and cultivation of sources and contacts to enhance news and information on various digital platforms. Participate in Emergency Communications for crisis and snow closures. Assist with internal communications, social media activity and other communications projects as needed.

Participate in design of and process for change management systems and procedures, and work directly with application development team members, Information Technology management and those on the change review and project intake teams.
Collaborate and participate as a team member with Information Technology staff, serve as primary point of contact, regarding system technical requirements, technical resource needs, and support (hardware configurations, consultants, system issues and requests). Perform data analysis and reporting for decision support and data integrity (audit and verification).

EXPERIENCE Minimum of 5 years' experience managing digital media (website design, development and project/change management), social media, search engine optimization (SEO) and analytics, or similar relevant communications experience in a related field. Three (3) years' experience in project or program management, for areas such as conducting online market or communications research; leading and supporting content management systems and digital experience platforms; and customer relationship management (CRM) tools and omnichannel communications, and marketing support (web, social, electronic messaging/email, etc.) in a complex organization. Experience with a digital experience platforms (DXP); supporting mass/enterprise communications for large constituent groups (over 100k) preferred.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, information technology or related field.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS No specific certificates, licenses or registrations required.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT Team and leadership skills, team member work ethic, project management skills, statistics and metrics analysis; data auditing planning, change management; and interpersonal skills, communication skills, multitasking skills, and presentation skills. Demonstrated experience and skills specific to managing digital platforms such as web design and maintenance, social media use, mobile apps and other technology-based communications. Experience in conceptualizing and designing community surveys, analyzing data and producing reports. Understanding of the role and use of technology and social media to enhance communication. Knowledge in the use of website design software (like SchoolMessenger, Drupal, Wordpress, Salesforce, Google Sites.) Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Survey Monkey, Microsoft Office Suite, MAC and PC platforms. Experience in writing for print and broadcast and familiarity with Associated Press style of writing required. Understanding/familiarity with W3C and WCAG website accessibility standards.

DECISION MAKING Ability to make editorial decisions regarding appropriate content and information to inform the community, parents, staff and students to properly convey the image of Jeffco Public Schools. Use of inappropriate or inaccurate information is likely to result in false information being conveyed and/or negatively impact the image of the district, its schools, programs, or staff. Errors could potentially result in substantial embarrassment or cost to the District.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS Daily contact with classified staff within/outside department to discuss routine internal matters, obtain/furnish information, interpret policy, maintain relationships, recommend policy, and negotiate controversial matters; with professional staff within/outside department and administrative leadership team to discuss routine internal matters, obtain/furnish information, interpret policy, maintain relationships, recommend policy, negotiate controversial matters, set critical policy, and instruct/counsel; and with general public, community members to obtain/furnish information, interpret policy, and maintain relationships. Weekly contact with department personnel to obtain/furnish information, maintain relationships, and recommend policy; and with media, news, press, and television to obtain/furnish information, maintain relationships, and negotiate controversial matters.

SPAN OF CONTROL This position may have lead worker or supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATIONAL DELIVERY Work conveys positive image of the daily work by school staff in education Jeffco Public Schools students. Staff development videos and other programs aid school and non-school staff in learning new skills and techniques.

COMPLEXITY OF WORK Work is assigned by the Chief Information Officer and Executive Director of Communications and is tied to goals of the strategic plan. Ability to make decisions regarding accuracy and appropriateness of content. Decisions are governed by the Board of Education policies and district procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts, and in outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally required to work in high, precarious places. Must be able to work flexible schedule to attend school/community functions held outside of normal office hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

OTHER INFORMATION Ability to effectively work with others in a cooperative team setting is essential. Individual must be able to gain the cooperation and trust of students, school staff and administrative personnel. Must also be able to multi-task projects and meet production deadlines. Some nights and weekends may be required to cover events.
