Montana Housing strengthens our vibrant communities by supporting access to safe, affordable and sustainable homes for Montanans whose housing needs are not met by the market. Montana Housing assists with buying a home, down payment assistance, mortgage servicing, Reverse Annuity Mortgages, rental housing assistance and multifamily rental development.

This position is responsible for directing and overseeing the Multifamily Housing programs. Duties include developing and administering new and existing housing programs, negotiating contracts and other partnerships in support of program activities, directing, and overseeing program implementation, supervision of program staff, and other duties as assigned.

What are we looking for?

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Public Administration or related field
  • Five years of job related experience that may include mortgage lending and loan servicing, program development, accounting, budgeting and supervisory experience
  • Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.


Knowledge of:

  • Concepts and theories of economics; public and business administration; accounting; budget development and administration; public relations and communications; marketing; and strategic planning.
  • Interrelationships of state and federal financial reporting and housing funding mechanisms; program management; public administration; legislative processes; governmental accounting and budgeting; federal reporting; and negotiation principles.
  • Department mission and Division goals and objectives; organizational theory, employment law, program requirements, and personnel management practices and techniques.

Ability to:

  • Plan, organize and direct short- and long-term fiscal management programs
  • Analyze, interpret, and explain complex financial data; apply analysis and judgment to develop new and innovative solutions to problems associated with major projects and policy decisions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships; motivate and direct staff to meet Department goals.
