About this role

The Senior Manager, Cloud Services and Infrastructure bears overall responsibility for day to day management and hands on oversight of Cloud Services and Infrastructure support teams supporting multiple cloud environments, Global cloud landing zones servicing regional operations, Infrastructure management and various corporation IT functions. This role requires a commitment to operational excellence, service management and continuous improvement.. This person must have a passion for problem solving, strong relationship skills, Global Infrastructure experience and the ability to collaborate cross functional global teams.

Your role will consist of

Strategic

• Lead teams to deliver high quality well architected solutions based on best practices.
• Develop and grow the existing Cloud Services and Infrastructure team into a high performance, efficient and effective team.
• Provide coaching, mentoring/guidance and leadership to all administrators (internal employees and external contractors) on-site as well as off-shore
• Manage and provide guidance to project resources, including third party partner consulting resources, onsite and offshore
• Define, publish and enforce an IT infrastructure that enables seamless integration and high availability across Cloud systems and Business groups
• Responsible for oversight of technical strategies relative to creation, implementation and expansion of Cloud environment per Newmont’s Cloud strategy

Tactical

• Actively monitors performance of systems and infrastructure to ensure continued reliability of information flow. Provide recommendations to improve the efficiency and reliability of existing infrastructure and cloud services
• Provide technical leadership to develop, implement and monitor consistent architectural standards across the Newmont Cloud landscape.
• Support estimating, scoping and sequencing of projects across cross-functional teams
• Implement a shared Cloud Services and Infrastructure organization, leveraging best practices to optimize efficiency across the portfolio
• Establish a Cloud technology refresh roadmap, with visibility into future technology inflection points and budgetary requirements

Operational

• Day to Day operations include: attending status meetings, ensure changes are clearly documented and approved prior to change review board, document and participate in root cause analysis meetings, review early watch reports with team and provide recommendations
• Resolve and/or facilitate resolution of problems including identifying cause to prevent re-occurrence. Identify and resolve business issues, escalate issues when appropriate

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

Knowledge:

• Bachelor’s (undergraduate) degree in computer science, information systems or equivalent is required
• Strong knowledge of Cloud architecture and administration including managing Azure, AWS, and GCP, Architect affective cloud solutions
• Exposure to Cloud computing applications as applicable.
• Complete understanding of the Cloud technical stack down to the infrastructure and network layer
• Applicant is required to have a strong Cloud trouble shooting and maintenance background

Experience:

• 15 years of technology, people management and related management experience
• Minimum 10 years of experience managing Cloud services, IT Infrastructure, IT operations.
• Minimum 10 years’ of industry/consulting experience with Cloud platforms, applications and technologies to support global operations
• Experience Microsoft Azure and Azure networking as well as creation landing zones
• Experience supporting Azure services like Azure AD, Kubernetes, Azure Applications, Azure Data Lake
• Experience establishing SLAs, negotiating and managing both in-sourced and out-sourced IT services
• Experience in participating in transformation initiatives for mid to large scale organization
• Experience in driving business process improvement initiatives
• Mining, construction, utilities or other heavy industry experience is preferred.

Working conditions and location

• The position can be located in the Denver corporate office. For the right candidate a work from home option may be possible.
• Position may be required to travel to, and assist other domestic and international sites.
