The Flight Controls and Autonomy team is currently seeking highly motivated technology pioneers with a desire to steer and lead the Autonomy industry. Successful candidates must be willing and able to work on highly complex complicated problems.

Team’s technical areas of emphasis include Fly-By-Wire Flight Control Systems, Guidance/Navigation & Control (GNC), Flight Test, Autonomy, Aviation Robotics, Perception, AI, and Motion Planning.
This position is within the Flight Controls and Autonomy Software group located in Stratford, CT. This position requires a software engineer to work as part of a modeling and software development team. The team uses a wide application of modern technical principles, theories, and concepts in the software field to develop, integrate, and test conventional and fly-by-wire flight control system software products for Sikorsky’s helicopter platforms.
The candidate will be responsible for the planning, development, integration, and verification of flight control software. The candidate will be responsible for the software efforts as part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) in the development and maintenance of flight control system software for a variety of platforms. Candidate responsibilities will span the software development lifecycle, including planning, requirements management, detail design and implementation, integration and test, flight test, and adjudicating change requests as the software is updated, tested, and integrated. Integration activities may include a multitude of host systems, such as live aircraft, simulated systems, and laboratory environments that include constructive simulations, physical hardware, and system simulations.
The successful candidate will work with a multi-program and multi-disciplinary team and must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, time-management, and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must have demonstrated effective communication skills as the position will require frequent inter-organizational and potential outside customer interactions.
C/C++ programming experience is required. Cross compiler toolchain development experience is required. Working knowledge of different Avionics data buses (ARINC-429, MIL-STD-1553, IEEE 1394, Ethernet and Time-Triggered Ethernet) is required. Experience with DO-178B/C, DO-330, and DO-331 is required. The ability to work at all levels of the software lifecycle is required. Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow and Embedded Coder is required. Development and use of Python and PERL scripting tools is required.
