VulcanForms is hiring a Data Engineer for our Burlington, MA, Headquarters, and R&D Tech Center.

Job Purpose

As a Data Engineer at VulcanForms, Burlington, MA, you will be tasked with improving and maintaining the data quality in VulcanForms' data store and pipelines to enable large-scale continuous model learning. You will be working with a database architect and machine learning engineer to solve the challenges in managing multi-modality data. This effort includes working with image, video, and other sensor data generated at the rate of hundred / thousand GBs per minute and pushing the frontier of Digital Additive Manufacturing.

Your goal will be to ensure the quality and availability of ingested data. You will be responsible to monitor the quality of data and perform data cleaning and transformation. You will develop code to automate the above steps. You should be proficient with Python and SQL programming languages and be comfortable with not only managing data tables in a SQL database but also working with images / videos in file storage, and web APIs. Our projects will often require creative approaches, and you will need to identify the most suitable solution. Our ideal applicant will be self-motivated, dynamic, and capable of setting and reaching ambitious goals.  We are looking for someone who is eager to continuously learn modern data management methods, and who will be excited about taking on new challenges in the digital manufacturing space and working in a fast-paced startup environment. 

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement code to monitor data quality and perform data extraction and transformation.
  • Monitor and improve data pipelines.
  • Perform data cleaning and data management tasks to assist data analysis and machine learning model development and deployment.
  • Coordinate with other stake holders to identify weakness in our data generation and data ingestion process, and corresponding solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or relevant field 
  • Proficient in SQL and Python
  • Must be a current US Citizen or US Resident/Green Card Holder

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 2+ years of hand-on experience as a data engineer or similar positions
  • Experience working with image data and managing ML data set is a plus.
  • Understanding of database development, and concept such as normalization, foreign keys.
  • Experience in working with machine sensor data is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and a strong desire to take work from concept to completion
  • Self-directed, self-organized, pro-active, and comfortable working in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary work environment
  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup company environment
