Full Job Description
Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, an Am Law 100 firm, is seeking an experienced Software Trainer.
This position can be based in our Downtown San Diego, Del Mar, Downtown Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Silicon Valley office. There is only one opening.
The Software Trainer will be responsible for providing classroom, online, individual, and automated software training to the firm's attorneys and support staff. Ideal candidates will assist in developing training programs and customizing materials such as online learning modules, quick reference guides, and tech blog articles to enable attorneys and staff to best utilize the Firm's technology.
Provide technology training to firm users
Conduct or arrange for ongoing technology training
Conduct and arrange technology training for onboarding new firm personnel
Assist in developing training programs and customizing training materials such as online learning modules, software manuals and quick reference guides
Develop new training materials including course curricula, documentation and quick reference guides
Assist in software testing and provide feedback to ensure successful implementation and deployment
Essential Functions of Job:
Conduct weekly new hire technology training for a variety of roles and skill levels
Lead weekly software classes to firmwide audiences
Attend department and project meetings to ensure training and change management is properly executed as part of the project in alignment with firm management goals
Conduct training for IT Support Staff to ensure they are keeping up with current firm technologies
Develop & conduct training to broad audiences, local offices, attorneys and executives in response to local or firmwide needs
Evaluate training and marketing methods to ensure users are aware of the firm’s technology capabilities
Learn new technologies and be able to quickly deliver quality training to attorneys and staff
Create informational Tech Blog posts on a regular basis
Preferred Qualifications: 3-5 years working in the legal training environment.
Required Qualifications: 3-5 years as a software trainer in a large organization.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree
License and Certification
Preferred: Strong consideration for ATD certification, Traveling Coaches Certified Legal Trainer, or other similar training certification
Preferred: MS Word Styles & Macros, Document Comparison software, Adobe or other PDF editor, Learning Management Systems, eLearning & video editing software (Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, etc), screen capture software (Snag-It), legal billing software (DTE, Carpe Diem, Intapp Time). Strong consideration for advanced knowledge of Excel formulas & functions.
Required: Microsoft Office, Document Management Systems (NetDocs, iManage)
Current Firm policy is hybrid - working in the office at least three times per week, and working from home the rest of the week (subject to change).
Travel will be required at times to visit offices for training events, up to 10%.
