  • Any welding and wire/tube bending experience or background is a huge plus
  • Need to really show clear direction for floor support on drawings and design w/ detailed notes
  • Detailed notes include dimensions, where and what type of screw are being utilized, where pilot holes go within the panels and even where the tap should placed on the parts
  • Pure Engineering drawings- No concept work
  • Any experience with administration work and updating PDM system is a huge plus

Our client is searching for a Design Engineer on behalf of our client a growing manufacturer of custom and semicustom store fixtures, industrial furniture and displays. In this role, you will be part of the product development team that engineers from concept, creates manufacturing drawings and ensures manufacturability of design as well as product aesthetics.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Analyze current engineering methods used within the company and develop steps and processes to improve
  • Document and monitor requirements needed to institute proposed updates in relation to customer experience
  • Establish a framework for necessary contributions from various departments and facilitate their collaboration
  • Work alongside project management teams to successfully monitor progress and implementation of engineering initiatives
  • Assist other department engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and creating them for other members of the team
  • Account for possible project challenges or constraints and proactively seek to manage challenges
  • Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including time and scope involved
  • Define clear goals for all aspects of a project and develop steps for their proper execution

Qualifications of the Successful Design Engineer

  • 2+ years' experience in sheet metal design or DFM for metal fabrication required. Knowledge tube or wire bending a plus.
  • Proficient with SolidWorks & PDM
  • Self-starter with time management skills to manage own workload in relation to design projects
  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, highly preferred
  • Experience with software engineering, customer specification and design architecture are pluses
  • Ability to work with various departments (purchasing, manufacturing, quality, sales) to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed project plan
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with various operating systems
  • Professional work experience reviewing and analyzing prototypes and product modifications
