Do you work for an established company that values your skills and abilities and makes a difference to our country's armed forces? If so, please read on!

This software engineering position earns a competitive salary of $80,000 - $90,000/year. We provide excellent benefits, including health, a competitive 401(k) with an employer match, 10 days of paid leave, and federal holidays. If this sounds like the right opportunity for you to do some remote software engineering, apply today!

With over 30 years of combined experience, we provide software, hardware, and network engineering services to customers within the Department of Defense (DoD). Our work includes interfacing with tactical radios by way of software APIs, manipulating internet protocols, prototyping emerging technologies, and developing applications. As we work to provide solutions to complex problems, we never forget that our ultimate mission is to get information to the warfighter as efficiently as possible.

Our ties with the DoD provide our employees with unique opportunities, including the ability to enjoy remote work as well as hands-on experience in research and development labs, using actual fielded equipment. Our employees also use cutting-edge products that are unavailable to the general consumer. Along with the generous benefits we provide, our employees appreciate the enormous perk of interacting with the soldiers who use our products. Their influence is a constant reminder of the importance of the work we do.

As a Junior Software Development Engineer, you have the vital responsibility of working on software for the DoD's mission command and tactical communications systems. As a skilled member of a cross-disciplinary hardware and software team, you contribute to all the phases of the developmental lifecycle.

Your job is to read the documentation about tactical radio interfacing, develop software that facilitates the interfacing, and then troubleshoot the physical and network interfaces between the software and the radios. An analytical thinker, you rely on your experience as well as on various Agile tools to help you track issues and address backlogs. You also rely on your team, working collaboratively with them and with our stakeholders to achieve the goals we all share.

Sometimes you work on-site at a lab, enjoying a real-world experience with the radios and other field equipment. Other times, your work is remote, either from home or on the road as you travel to various military installations around the US. You couldn't ask for more engaging and interesting work, and the chance to interact with the soldiers who use the products you help develop is priceless. As far as dream jobs go, you're living it!

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or an engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of experience with software development
  • Ability to configure and use an integrated development environment (IDE), such as IntelliJ, PyCharm, Android Studio, or Goland
  • Experience using a Linux terminal application
  • Experience developing applications in procedural AND object-oriented languages (Java, C++, C#)
  • Familiarity with GitLab, Continuous Integration Pipeline, and Agile development
  • Willingness to travel within the continental US
  • Active Secret level security clearance or the ability to obtain one
  • Full vaccination for COVID-19

Some experience writing shell scripts and python scripts is preferred. Familiarity with the debugging of Android applications from a terminal would be a bonus.

Are you analytically minded? Do work well collaboratively and on your own? Can you persistently stick to a task until you've conquered it? Are you an effective communicator? If yes, you might just be perfect for this software engineering position!

This software engineering position works a standard business schedule OR a 5-4/9 plan, which is eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day per pay period. This position has possibilities for remote work and travels within the continental US 20% of the time.

If you feel that you would be right for this software engineering job, please fill out our initial 3-minute, mobile-friendly application. We look forward to meeting you!
