Full Job Description
The Eastern Business Unit (EBU) is the largest of the four Brown and Caldwell operating regions, generating approximately 30% of the Company sales from 43 offices east of the Mississippi River. It is a diverse business that consists of federal and municipal clients in the water/wastewater, environmental services, and water resources sectors. The EBU Leader will be a recognized water/environmental industry leader with a demonstrated track record of success. An in-depth understanding of regional market conditions is important. The EBU Leader will lead market strategy for the EBU Region, in coordination with the company executive management team. The ability to inspire and lead other experienced managers is a critical component of this role. Effective decision making and business acumen are key. Demonstrated sales, project management, client relationship management, and operations skills are essential. This key company leader will be responsible for continuing the profitable growth of the Eastern Business Unit and help make Brown and Caldwell the Company of Choice for our most trusted clients, employees, and business partners.

Detailed Description:

The successful candidate will be an energetic, compelling communicator with exceptional diplomatic and persuasive skills, capable of listening and interacting effectively with staff and clients at all organizational levels. Job Responsibilities Expectations:
The Business Unit Leader is expected to demonstrate excellence in leadership, the delivery of high-quality work product, strong financial performance, and sustained growth of our client base. This is a leadership role that requires critical thinking and decision making in a high velocity environment, strong business acumen, extraordinary talent management ability and sound, ethical character and executive presence.

The Business Unit Leader will:
Understand the Eastern market and grow it in alignment with the company’s core strategic goals and imperatives, standards, operational model and values.
Leverage the Enterprise Model and teams to deliver projects and outcomes that make both the region and broader company successful.

Build and sustain strong, deep, and sincere relationships with clients – ensuring they continue to make BC their company of choice.

Lead and manage the EBU leadership team to deliver agreed upon goals, including but not limited to, financial performance, sales, staff development, safety, risk, project performance, and enterprise collaboration.
Ensure adherence to BC Risk Management policies, practices, and for reducing project breakage across the region.
Active participation in the Operations Leadership Team, the team that is responsible for delivering the One BC Financial Plan.
Travel 45% - 65%

Desired Skills and Experience:
B.S. or M.S. in engineering, geology, hydrogeology, or a related field is required.
Professional registration is preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of increasingly responsible experience in the environmental services and consulting industry is required.
Ability to demonstrate financial acumen including P&L responsibility.
Ability to develop, sell, and deliver complex integrated projects across a diverse geographic region.
Ability to demonstrate experience managing a large portfolio of projects with a substantial impact on the business.
Ability to demonstrate experience managing successfully within a matrixed/enterprise business model.
Ability to demonstrate experience managing at the executive level (must have led and developed other leaders).
Excellent knowledge of and presence in key markets in the East.
Experience and knowledge of market competitors and the ability to develop successful teaming partnerships as required to enhance our business in the East
Deep understanding of the political process of state and local governments, and how to successfully win and deliver work in this environment.
M.B.A. or similar coursework preferred.
High business acumen with the ability to drive profits for the company.
