Job Description:
This position is largely operations and project management focused. Our sales managers oversee a location with 3 to 5 sales specialists who have their own individual books of business made up of retail customers, repeat builders, contractors, and flippers. At its most basic function, sales managers ensure a commissioned sales team takes turns greeting walk-in customers while others answer phones or follow up with existing customers. The sales manager observes customer interactions, which consists of a simple greeting, a discovery process (which should be a fun/laidback conversation), helping the customer select products, and then closing the sale.
The sales manager’s important daily tasks include executing a local marketing effort via social media aps like FaceBook Marketplace and NextDoor. Sales managers are also tasked with confirming customer service challenges are addressed by the sales team, advising the sales team on customer service solutions, observing and coaching the sales team on sales techniques, and developing strategies to meet KPI goals. Other important areas of focus include working with facilities teams to maintain the building, managing inventory procedures, and working with Purchasing to improve margins.
The position does not involve pressuring customers – customers are already excited to buy because they need new appliances they depend on. Appliance Factory also guarantees the best price, which relieves any further pressure on customers. Most sales managers do very little selling themselves.
