Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Chief of Staff/Operations Program Manager 3. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. Learn more about the Sentinel program here. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do:

The primary objective will be the delivery of all contractual requirements on cost and on schedule, while achieving all technical requirements and creating customer intimacy to support value creation strategies and actions.

Primary responsibilities are to support the establishment and maintenance of the IPT operations to execute the management of cost, schedule, and technical performance and includes, but is not limited to:

  • Support the daily execution of the Manufacturing team scope across the weapon system, reporting to the Director of Manufacturing.
  • Assisting and acting as the primary delegate for all Manufacturing team leadership activities
  • Measuring and reporting program performance through development and adherence to budget baselines utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Conducting thorough risk & opportunity management practices including identification, mitigation and realization
  • Strong technical leadership through the identification, distribution, tracking, and completion of program requirements
  • Development and adherence to master plans and schedules
  • Ensuring program team understands and adheres to contract scope, and manages change through control board activities
  • Interfacing with government / customers to meet program objectives and maintain strong partnership
  • Delivering presentations to customers, executive management, and other program stakeholders
  • Creation and implementation of strategy for growth

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM discipline and 8 years’ experience, or Master’s in STEM and 6 years’ experience supporting US Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a formal lead/management position, leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either a project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager to include performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance with the ability to get special program access (PAR).
  • US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline and 10 years’ experience, or Master’s and 8 years’ experience, supporting US Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries.
  • Previous ICBM Experience is a plus.
  • Experience leading manufacturing/production teams in an Engineering & Manufacturing Development program
  • Prior experience interfacing with prime contractor site leads and USAF leadership personnel
  • Knowledge and experience using CAMEO and/or Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Principles.
  • Experience using DOORS Requirements Management Database.
  • Experience with Agile.
  • Experience leading manufacturing/production teams in an Engineering & Manufacturing Development program
  • Prior experience interfacing with prime contractor site leads and USAF leadership personnel
  • Demonstrated success leading teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively work within a team environment
  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance and applicable SAP accesses
  • Active Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret Clearance.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal.
  • Knowledge of system integration and test principles and test plan development at any level of build (unit, sub-system, system, etc.).

Salary Range: $123,900 USD - $185,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
